This calendar, instead of remembering the saint of the day as in traditional Christian calendars, dedicates each day to a woman who contributed to making history, who fought patriarchy for the freedom of making her own contribution to science, justice, art, sport. Seeds of Female Genealogy: Creating life to keep the memory alive

Seeds of Female Genealogy is a project that expands and extends the meaning – symbolic and non-symbolic – of the gynergic calendar, allowing the purchase of one or more postcards dedicated to one of the women who made history – or, to use Emiliana Losma’s more appropriate definition: the Ancestors. Each postcard accurately illustrates the life and works of an Ancestor, offering a complete overview of her life and her works, and thus making up for the chronic lack of biographies of female historical characters.

The symbolism of the project is actually twofold. It is thought not only to remember an Ancestor, but also to plant – and therefore commit to cultivating – the seed of knowledge. The postcards for Seeds of Female Genealogy can be sent by post; in this case, they will be sent in envelopes made of plantable paper. The name is certainly self-revealing, as it is in fact a special type of paper designed and manufactured to sprout and be grown into a plant if buried in soil.
